A Locomotive with a Rich Railway History

Originally built by Brush Traction in Loughborough, Class 60 locomotive No. 60056 entered service in May 1991. Initially carrying the Trainload Coal Sector livery and the name 'William Beveridge', the locomotive was an important part of Britain's heavy freight railway operations.

In 1995, No. 60056 received the TransRail livery before subsequently transferring to English Welsh & Scottish Railway (EWS) ownership.

In 2014, the locomotive's original nameplates were removed, and it was later acquired by Colas Rail. In 2018, GB Railfreight (GBRf) purchased No. 60056 while it was still carrying its Colas Rail livery.

The locomotive subsequently received the distinctive GBRf blue livery and was given the new name 'Great Gable', continuing its service as part of Britain's modern freight railway fleet.
