The iconic King Class, introduced by Charles Collett between 1927 and 1930, symbolized the height of GWR locomotive design. With copper-capped chimneys, taper boilers, and polished brass details, these 4-6-0 steam giants were built for speed and grandeur, typically operating between Paddington and Wolverhampton.

No. 6029 was built in August 1930, later renamed ‘King Edward VIII’ in 1936, and ran in service until its withdrawal in 1962. Hornby’s model captures the original ‘King Stephen’ identity in rich GWR green, with optional etched nameplates and a full set of scale detailing. This DCC-ready model also supports Hornby’s HM7000 Bluetooth® & DCC sound decoder for modern layouts.
