Built in March 1928, ‘King Charles II’ was one of the iconic thirty locomotives in the King Class, designed by Charles Collett and named after British monarchs. These engines defined the golden age of express travel on the West of England main line. With their powerful 4-6-0 configuration, copper-capped chimneys, and brass safety valve covers, they embodied prestige and performance.

While 6009 wore BR Black after nationalisation, this model pays tribute to the class’s original elegance with a vibrant GWR green finish. Featuring etched nameplates, detailed brass components, and a coupled tender, it’s a standout addition to any OO layout. It’s DCC-ready and fully compatible with Hornby’s HM7000 Bluetooth® & DCC sound decoder.
