Bring one of Britain's most impressive express steam locomotive classes to your railway with this detailed BR Princess Coronation Class No. 46230, presented in elegant lined Brunswick green and reproduced in OO Gauge / 1:76 scale.
Also widely known as the “Duchess” Class, Stanier's Princess Coronation locomotives were among the largest and most powerful express passenger steam locomotives to operate in Britain.
A total of 35 Princess Coronation Class locomotives were constructed at Crewe Works between 1937 and 1948. While a number of the class were originally built with streamlined casing, No. 6230 was the first locomotive of the third batch, comprising five locomotives constructed in non-streamlined form.
Entering service in June 1938 as LMS No. 6230, the locomotive was initially allocated to Camden.
Following the nationalisation of Britain's railways in 1948, it became British Railways No. 46230. The model depicts the locomotive in its handsome BR lined Brunswick green livery, representing its later British Railways service.
During this period, No. 46230 was based at Polmadie shed in Glasgow. Its working career eventually came to an end when the locomotive was withdrawn in December 1963.
With its imposing proportions, classic Stanier styling and distinctive Brunswick green finish, No. 46230 makes an impressive choice for enthusiasts recreating British Railways express passenger operations.

Historical Background
Stanier's Princess Coronation Class represented the pinnacle of LMS express passenger steam locomotive development.
Thirty-five members of the class were constructed between 1937 and 1948, with ten locomotives originally allocated to work the prestigious Coronation Scot service between London Euston and Glasgow.
No. 6230 was not one of the Coronation Scot locomotives. Instead, it became the first locomotive of the third production batch, consisting of five examples built without streamlined casing.
The locomotive entered service from Camden in June 1938. Following Nationalisation, it became BR No. 46230, later operating from Polmadie in Glasgow before withdrawal in December 1963.
