Historical Note:
Entering service in September 1935, ‘Quicksilver’ was based at King’s Cross and quickly became part of the Silver Jubilee express fleet. Like many A4s, it wore Garter Blue, then black wartime livery, before returning to blue and later adopting BR green. It was fitted with a double chimney in 1957 and withdrawn in April 1963 from ‘Top Shed’.
