Recreate Britain's distinctive mail and parcels railway operations with this Class 47 No. 47749 “Atlantic College”, reproduced in detailed OO Gauge 1:76 scale.


The prototype began its long career as D1660, emerging from Crewe Works in February 1965. Over the following decades it underwent several changes in identity and specification, eventually becoming 47749 “Atlantic College” and joining the Rail Express Systems (RES) fleet for mail and parcels operations.


Presented in a striking red and black livery, the locomotive is an excellent choice for recreating the specialised mail and parcels trains that were once an important part of Britain's railway network.


In November 1995, the prototype was modified to Class 47/7b specification, receiving longer-range fuel tanks and equipment allowing operation with a Propelling Control Vehicle (PCV).


The model is DCC Ready with a factory-fitted 21-pin decoder socket, providing a straightforward upgrade path to digital operation. Hornby's HM7000-21TXS Bluetooth® & DCC Sound Decoder is listed as the primary compatible decoder.
