Hornby Merchant Navy Class 35012 'United States Lines' – BR Malachite Green | OO Gauge | DCC Ready

Experience the might and innovation of Southern Railway engineering with Hornby’s stunning model of Merchant Navy Class No. 35012 ‘United States Lines’, finished in vivid BR Malachite Green and engineered for standout OO gauge performance.

Conceived by Oliver Bulleid in 1937, the Merchant Navy Class was the Southern Railway’s premier express engine, built to haul both luxury passenger services like the Golden Arrow and high-speed freight. With bold engineering choices—including air-smoothed casing, a welded steel firebox, and Bulleid’s infamous enclosed oil bath valve gear—these 4-6-2 Pacific locomotives blended modernity with muscle.

Locomotive 35012, originally numbered 21C12, entered service in 1945 and was one of the first to be rebuilt by British Railways in 1957. It served across the Southern Region before being withdrawn in 1967 and later scrapped at Newport.

Hornby’s faithful model of 35012 features a powerful 5-pole motor with flywheel, detailed cab, and smooth tender pickup operation. DCC-ready with an 8-pin socket, it’s fully compatible with the HM7000 Bluetooth® & DCC Sound Decoder.

NEW! Since Journal 3.2, the much improved T.A.B (Tabs Accordion Blocks) system supports the page builder inside the tab content. Unlimited Blocks, Tabs or Accordions with any HTML content or the builder interface (supporting custom rows/columns/modules) can be assigned to any individual product or to certain groups of products, like entire categories, brands, products with specific options, attributes, price range, etc. You can indicate any criteria via the advanced product assignment mechanism and only those products matching your criteria will display the modules. Also, any module can be selectively activated per device (desktop/tablet/phone), customer login status and other criteria. Imagine the possibilities.
