Celebrate the legacy of high-speed rail with the Hornby Dublo LNER A4 Class 2511 ‘Silver King’, a standout member of Sir Nigel Gresley’s iconic A4 Pacific fleet. Finished in a gleaming silver livery as part of the 90th Anniversary Collection, this express locomotive captures the bold style and advanced engineering that defined the era of streamlined travel.
Expertly engineered with a die-cast metal body and chassis, this model features a 5-pole motor, flickering firebox, and is DCC Ready with a 21-pin socket for effortless digital upgrades. Designed for smooth, powerful performance, ‘Silver King’ is equally suited to display or demanding layout service.
Historical Note:
Entering service in November 1935, ‘Silver King’ worked the prestigious Silver Jubilee trains from London King’s Cross. It received Garter Blue in 1938, and wartime black in 1943, when its side skirting was removed. Later renumbered as LNER No. 16 and ultimately BR 60016, it served until retirement in March 1965, based at Aberdeen Ferryhill.
